Our mission is to facilitate student learning, development, and success through effective and individualized advising & academic services.

Advising in the Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) is an important component of the commitment to a quality undergraduate experience for students. The LSBE Advising and Academic Services office is located in LSBE 111A.  Advising allows you to build a relationship with an advisor and get answers to your questions about courses, majors, minors, careers, internships, study abroad programs, student activities, and anything else you may need to know. We work collaboratively with LSBE faculty and coordinate advising activities for students within the School. LSBE Advising and Academic Services staff members enjoy working with students and are committed to providing you with accurate, timely, and friendly service. New freshmen and new transfer students are assigned to a staff advisor from within this office and are later re-assigned to work with faculty in the discipline of their chosen major upon admission to candidacy (upper-division status). The advising staff are here to assist you from being a prospective student through graduation.

Office Hours:  8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday

To schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor or with the LSBE Internship Director, please stop at the front desk in LSBE 111A or call our front desk at 218-726-6594. It is recommended to meet with your adviser regularly to discuss progress toward degree completion and to review your academic plan. Students bear the final responsibility for making their own decisions based on the information and advice obtained.

Advisor's Role:

• Help you clarify your educational values and goals;
• Provide accurate information on educational options, policies, and procedures;
• Guide you toward an academic program in which you can be successful;
• Acquaint you with campus resources that support your academic and personal success.

Student’s Role:

• Be responsible for scheduling, preparing for, and keeping advising appointments.
• Meet with your adviser regularly to review the academic schedule for the following term and progress toward degree completion.
• Seek out contacts, information, and knowing the basic requirements of their degree program.
• Take final responsibility for making their own decisions based on the best information and advice available.
