Marte Kitson, Internship Program Director
Kitson facilitates connections between students and businesses to bridge academic learning with practical experience. Her work emphasizes fostering partnerships within the local community and across Minnesota, creating opportunities that benefit both students and regional employers.
“I help students secure internships aligned with their majors, enabling them to gain valuable, real-world skills that prepare them for successful careers. Through collaboration and outreach, I support workforce development and ensure students are equipped to transition confidently from the classroom to the professional world.
“One of my favorite parts of my job is seeing the outcomes that result from the connections being built. For example, I recently learned about a student who moved to a small town for the summer to intern with an economic development organization as a result of some of the connections being made between LSBE and Greater Minnesota communities. Stories like this—where students gain meaningful experience and contribute to communities—are incredibly rewarding for me.”
Kitson, who loves to travel, was lucky enough to visit Quito, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands in June! She also enjoys camping, canoeing, hiking, and biking.
