Joan Ahmann

Joan is a 1976 graduate of the University of Minnesota and worked as a diet technician and subsequently in the insurance business until retiring in 2014. She volunteered for 12 years at a homeless shelter in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a food shelf in Plymouth, Minnesota. Currently, she directs funds to multiple groups servicing women, children, and under-resourced populations in Minnesota. Joan feels passionate about the work LSBE’s DEI program is doing to create a more inclusive educational experience.

Richard Ahmann
Retired CEO, RJ Ahmann Company
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duluth, Rick worked for two international corporations and subsequently entered the insurance business in 1979. RJ Ahmann Company was a regional insurance broker licensed in all 50 states as well as doing business internationally. He is retired and has three wonderful daughters and five grandchildren. His work life made him aware of the lack of diversity and equality in business. Having the opportunity to be partnered with one of only two minority-owned independent insurance agencies in Minnesota he became more aware of their unique obstacles. He is passionate about supporting LSBE’s DEI program and excited for our future business leaders to have a more diverse educational experience, one more in tune with the global community.

Andrew Rice
Leadership Development Rotational Program (LDRP)–Merchandise and Product Assortment Participant, Target Corporation

Andy Rice joined Target’s inaugural Leadership Development Rotational Program in 2020. The two-year career accelerator program is built to increase business empathy and meaningful leadership skills through challenging cross-functional experiences, which Rice gained earlier in his career, with the goal to build future enterprise leaders. After completing his BBA in Organizational Management at UMD’s Labovitz School, Rice began his career at Target full-time in 2014 as a business analyst in the Baby Care Division. He has had additional roles in Baby and Frozen Foods Divisions that have had growing scope over Rice’s career across planning and buying. In support of that belief, Rice funds a scholarship in his parents' names in support of future BIPOC leaders.
