LSBE Student Clubs and Organizations

You are here

Club Information:

The Financial Planning Club provides an overview of the financial planning profession by inviting professionals to campus and by attending off-campus events. The Club invites speakers and UMD graduates to share with students their career path and experiences, as well as what to expect when students graduate. The Club also attends different networking events, where participants have an opportunity to network and learn more about the profession. The topics we cover in our meetings are valuable information for all students, even if you aren't planning on being a Financial Planner! We talk about credit scores, repaying student loans, mortgages, and many more.

Meeting Dates:

Meetings are every Tuesday at 5pm in LSBE 129 and are announced prior via our facebook page and email list.

Annual FPA of MN Symposium
During October at Minneapolis Convention Center

The Club has been attending this event every year since 2011. Students are able to apply for a scholarship which covers all cost of attending the event, which is a great incentive to attend. The Symposium is a two-day event, where professionals come together from around the state for continuing education credits. Also, there are specifically designed panels and discussions towards student
attendees, the Knowledge Cafes and Financial Essentials seriesThe Knowledge Cafes include being assigned a short term Symposium mentor, who are members of the FPA. These mentors will be able available to answer any industry or career questions you may have as well as potentially connecting you will fellow professional colleagues. Financial Essentials is designed through panels to help new financial planners get a successful start. It is designed for those with just a few years of experience, those entering the practice, or students interested in entering the financial planning field.
