Faculty and Staff Awards and Recognitions

	LSBE Assistant Professor of Business Communications Abram Anders won the 2014 Pearson Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology from the Association for Business Communication (ABC). The award recognizes innovative uses of technology to enhance learning and engagement in business communication classrooms. He received the honor at the Presidential Luncheon during the annual ABC international conference in Philadelphia. As part of the award, which included a monetary prize among other items, Anders will present his innovative ideas at ABC’s 2015 plenary session of the annual convention held in October 2015 in Seattle, Wash.
	LSBE Professor of Marketing Steve Castleberry has been hired as the new UMD faculty athletic representative. Castleberry joined the Labovitz School of Business and Economics faculty in 1992 and currently oversees UMD's marketing and graphic design major. Among the classes he currently teaches is sports marketing, which he helped create. Over the past several years, he has worked closely with Bulldog athletics, providing support with an extensive sports marketing internship program and also lending his expertise in the areas of sponsorships, event management, and fan experiences.
	LSBE Financial Markets Program Director Joe Artim was interviewed by FSN about the innovative financial markets program. The segment was broadcast live during a men's hockey game break on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014.
	LSBE Assistant Professor of Management Studies Dr. Lin Xiu was one of five UMD faculty to receive an IDEA 2014 Multicultural Research Award. She was recognized for his co-authored research project titled, "The Effects of Gender Role Orientation and National Culture on Coping Strategies."

Faculty-Published Research/Presentations

	LSBE Finance and Management Information Sciences Department Chair and Professor of Management Information Systems Dr. Dahui Li published an article with coauthors Zongxiao Xie and Wenhua Hou from Nankai University in China and Haichao Zheng from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China. Titled, "Antecedents of Solution Quality in Crowdsourcing: The Sponsor’s Perspective." The article is featured in volume 15, issue 3 of theJournal of Electronic Commerce Research.
	LSBE Assistant Professor of Economics Dr. Gibson Nene published an article in the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics with faculty from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, including Professor of Agricultural Economics Dr. Azzeddine Azzam and Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics Dr. Karina Schoengold. The article, titled, "Hog Structure and the Stringency of Environmental Regulation," was published in the September 2014 issue of the publication.
	LSBE Associate Professor of Management Information Systems Dr. Nik R. Hassan published the article, "Paradigm Lost … Paradigm Gained: A Hermeneutical Rejoinder to Banville and Landry's 'Can the Field of MIS Be Disciplined?'" in the September 2014 issue ofEuropean Journal of Information Systems.
	LSBE Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management Dr. Lin Xiu published the article "Glass Ceiling or Sticky Floor? Quartile Regression Decomposition of the Gender Pay Gap in China" with University of Toronto Economics Professor Dr. Morley Gunderson. The article was featured in volume 35, issue 3 of the International Journal of Manpower.
	LSBE Associate Professor and Head of the Economics Department Dr. Christopher R. McIntosh published the article, "Preference Reversals: Experimental Review and a New Idea for Using Arbitrage within the Double Bound Dichotomous Choice Elicitation Method," in volume 13, issue 1 of the Western Economics Forum.
	McIntosh also published an article with LSBE Assistant Professor of Economics Dr. Neil A. Wilmot. The article, "Forecasting Recreational Visitation at U.S. National Parks," is featured in volume 19, issue 2 of Tourism Analysis.
	LSBE Accounting Professor Dr. Roger W. Reinsch and Dr. Sonia M. Goltz, professor of organizational behavior at Michigan Technological University, published an article in the Northwestern Journal of Law and Social Policy. Titled, "You Can’t Get There From Here: Implications of the Walmart v. Dukes Decision for Addressing Second-Generation Discrimination," The article is featured in volume 9, issue 2 of the publication
	Head of the LSBE Department of Economics Dr. Maureen O’Brien published an article in the International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning with UMD Assistant Professor of Sociology Dr. Susan Janssen. Titled, "Disentangling The Effects Of Student Attitudes and Behaviors On Academic Performance," the article is published in volume 8, issue 2 of the journal.
