The discussion titled "Business Careers for Making a Difference in Your Community" brings Mark Danielson from the Community Foundation, Shaye Moris from Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, Mary Rapps from Generations Health Care Initiatives, and Lee Stuart from CHUM (see bios below) together to answer your questions about working in charitable organizations and to distinguish the difference between nonprofit and for profit entities. Geoff Bell, Associate Professor of Strategic Management at LSBE will moderate the discussion.

Mark Danielson joined the Community Foundation in 2012 as the Development Officer. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, he practiced law for several years and most recently worked in the trust department at Wells Fargo Bank. Mark is a member of various musical organizations in the community, including the Windchill Brass and the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a graduate of St. Olaf College and William Mitchell College of Law.
Shaye Moris is the Executive Director of Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, a position she's held for the last 18 years. In this role, she oversees overall administration, fundraising and marketing, human resources and finance operations. Shaye is a native of the Duluth-Superior region and attended both UMD and UW-Superior receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree with studies in Mass Communication, Journalism, and Psychology.
Mary Rapps is the Program Director at Generations Health Care Initiatives. Mary has a passion for community health and health equity and is committed to improving the health of communities through innovation and collaboration with public health, health care, and service organizations. She holds a Master's Degree in Health Care Administration and has worked as a Health Care Administrator for over 21 years.
Lee Stuart has been Executive Director of CHUM since 2013. Prior to that, she worked at Duluth Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), where she worked with neighborhood groups to revise, create and implement comprehensive neighborhood plans. Trained as a scientist (PhD in ecology from the University of California Davis and San Diego State University), Lee established a self-help food assistance program in the Bronx, NY, which led to a career in non-profit leadership on issues such as affordable housing, community organizing, parks advocacy, English as a Second Language, and international development.
Geoff Bell, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management. He joined LSBE in 2001 and teaches classes on the topics of strategic management, sustainable management, and business ethics. Geoff holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the U of M Twin Cities' Carlson School of Management and an undergraduate degree in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Manitoba. His research interests include the influence of geography and networks on firm performance, the teaching of strategic management, and the role of radical management theory and virtue theory on management.
