LSBE has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

AACSB Accreditation, the hallmark of excellence in business education, has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, 716 business schools in 48 countries and territories maintain AACSB Accreditation. In Northeastern Minnesota, LSBE is the only school to have attained AACSB accreditation.

"It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students."

LSBE was first accredited in 2000 and has grown to include 12 majors spread over three bachelor degrees, four specialized programs, and an MBA. Approximately 450 students received degrees in the 2013-2014 academic year, and LSBE had a 98% placement rate for the 2012-2013 academic year. The School is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

"We continue to make LSBE an exceptional learning environment by assessing and reassessing what we offer our students," said Dean Amy B. Hietapelto. "As we evolve, our sights are always set on maintaining our accreditation, and AACSB has the most stringent accreditation standards in the industry.

"Students who graduate from an AACSB-accredited institution are learning what matters most to employers in today's marketplace. These students are getting a higher caliber of education, which gives them a distinct advantage in the real world. Employers know the value of AACSB accreditation, and many prefer hiring students from AACSB-accredited schools."
