Welcome to the Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE), where we put an emphasis on outstanding, innovative, experiential learning, equipping our students with what they need to know for success in an ever-expanding global marketplace.
With four degrees offered – Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Art (Economics), and a Master of Business Administration - through 14 majors, students have the opportunity to graduate with a wide array of relevant business expertise. Additionally, LSBE offers an online Certificate in Business Administration for non-LSBE students interested in gaining a foundational knowledge of business management; it's also the perfect way to fulfill the prerequisites needed to enroll in the MBA program. Our MBA program has five delivery methods including a new year-long, Accelerated Program and 4+1 Program, which allows undergraduate students to start taking MBA courses during their undergraduate career.
LSBE maintains the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) accreditation. Less than 5% of business schools worldwide have earned this prestigious distinction, and in Northeastern Minnesota, LSBE is the only AACSB accredited school. As such, students are guaranteed an education by faculty who meet the highest standards and rigorous criteria in business education. Our faculty teach all of LSBE's courses; no teaching assistants are utilized.
Born out of LSBE's partnerships with industry leaders like 3M, Maurices, Target, Wells Fargo, Midwest Professional Planners, JNBA, DemandTec (an IBM company) and TD Ameritrade, manyl unique academic programs immerse students in experiential learning. For example, in the Financial Markets Program, students manage investments in excess of $1.5 million in a fully equipped, real-time, financial markets computer lab. Our Financial Planning Program is the only one of its kind in the state of Minnesota. An analytics lab provides the setting for students to work with large datasets utilizing advanced software packages in the Marketing Analytics Program. 3M recently designated LSBE as one of only 14 universities in its Frontline Sales Initiative Program, an initiative to provide students with high caliber experiential learning in the sales industry. For students who have an interest in graphic design, LSBE offers a degree program in collaboration with the School of Fine Arts that combines Marketing and Graphic Design. Students in our new entrepreneurship major will have opportunities to create actual businesses. Given LSBE's innovative programs and rigorous curriculum, it's no surprise that it has a placement rate of 98% for its graduates.
Study Abroad Programs, a host of student organizations, undergraduate research opportunities, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Student to Business Initiatives, our Passport Program, and more, allow LSBE students to be fully engaged and professionally prepared in a variety of ways. Additionally, LSBE features a student-run Entrepreneurship Conference on campus, as well as a business plan competition. Through LSBE's Internship Program, students can find internship opportunities with companies such as Cargill, 3M, Ernst & Young, Honeywell, RSM, General Mills, JCPenney, Anderson Corporation, PWC, Prime Therapeutics, Essentia, Upsher-Smith, Allete, IBM, Polaris, St. Luke’s, and Minnesota Twins.
With all that LSBE does for its students and the community, it's our donors and alumni who graciously support our efforts. Donors and alumni fund over 130 LSBE scholarships, totaling over $240,00 annually, and support our innovative programs. We greatly appreciate their deep commitment to our students' success.
Welcome to the LSBE learning community - where our exemplary faculty and staff are committed to providing an exceptional learning experience, in a spectacular, state-of-the-art, sustainably designed building!
