Additional experiential opportunities exist through the UMD Shark Tank, internships and the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). These programs provide students with hands-on, real-world experiences from which to learn.

Two specialized business centers exist as learning ventures for students as well as community business resources.  The Center for Economic Development, which is located in downtown Duluth, assists small businesses by offering consulting on a multitude of business services. Here, student teams partner with area businesses to provide marketing and accounting assistance.  The Bureau for Business and Economic Research, housed in LSBE, provides unbiased economic research and analysis for government agencies, as well as new or existing businesses. Here, students assist with economic data research and studies for actual clients.
