Kenny Nadeau Joins BBER Student Team

Introducing the BBER's newest student researcher

Kenny started November 1, joining the Bureau of Business and Economic Research undergraduate research assistants team of Erin Hopkins and D'Lanie Perry. The BBER has a really great group of student researchers! Read this weeks blog to learn more about Kenny.

Q: Tell us about yourself

I am a senior double majoring in Economics and Management. Originally, I am from Foley, Minnesota, which is a small town east of St. Cloud. Over the past several years, I have picked up golfing and participating in triathlons. Plenty of my free time is devoted to trying to get better at those. I completed my first Ironman Triathlon last August. Plus, interestingly, not a lot of people like black licorice, but I do.

Q: What inspired you to apply for the research assistant position?

I have been interested in the BBER since last spring when the current research assistants came to my Economics class to talk about it and recruit for the summer position. However, my schedule prevented me from seeking out that opportunity at that time.

Q: If you could research any local economic development topic, what would it be?

I think researching the various economic effects of the Twin Ports’ local colleges' athletic programs and annual races, like Grandma's Marathon, could be useful information to examine. Understanding this topic might give insight into areas such as possibly making better use of funds and developing new events for the future.

Q: How do you see your position at the BBER helping you achieve your goals after college?

I believe the hands-on research experience provided by this position will make me better at gathering data, analyzing it, and communicating it effectively. In turn, I see this position as an opportunity to make me a more skilled worker and more competitive in the job market.
