The Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) is so grateful for the generosity of our donors. Of note are Harry and Margaret Walker. Through the Walker Fund, the BBER has been able to support students interested in assisting us with our real-world research.
Students who most recently have benefitted by the Walker Fund and working for the BBER are listed below. You can see their projects on the U of M Digital Conservancy where their names are listed on the reports on which they assisted.
Of the students below, three are now pursuing master’s or professional degrees, three have positions directly related to research and analysis, and two are working in the financial sector. We are incredibly proud to have helped these talented students advance their careers in some small way!
Today is Give to the Max Day. We hope that you’ll help more students gain hands-on experience through the BBER by donating to the Walker Fund.
When you give, you are investing in students. #UMNGive

More details about the Walkers
Harry and Margaret Walker lived in Duluth for many years prior to moving to Florida in retirement. Harry Carl Walker was the owner of Walker Hydrill, Inc. in Duluth, Minnesota. The Walkers were early members of the Presidents Club and donated considerable equipment and tools to the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Walkers had four sons—Harry Carl, Jr., William Ray, Robert, and Samuel. Robert (Robin) was a UMD faculty member in the School of Business and Economics during the 1970s and 1980s.
In 2005, the Walkers established the Harry and Margaret Walker Bureau of Business and Economic Research Fund to support a student interested in assisting the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) in its research.
