Organizational Management Major & Minor
The Organizational Management major prepares graduates for a diverse set of careers with responsibilities such as supervising employees, guiding operational and firm-level decision making, and administering the support systems essential to the effective operation of the organization. The Organizational Management major allows students to become familiar with different types of organizations and their members, firm dynamics, environmental challenges, organizational stakeholders, and management processes.
What does a manager do? Management is the “art of getting things done with and through people.” In other words, a manager coordinates and facilitates the work of others to accomplish goals that might not be achieved by a single individual. Being successful requires a solid foundation of knowledge and skills related to:
- Organizations and their environments
- The various roles of managers
- Employee behaviors and their causes
- Effective communication
- Ethical and environmental issues
- Organizational outcome variables
The management curriculum allows students to become familiar with different types of organizations and their members. Areas such as organizational dynamics, technology, sustainability, change, leadership, and ethics are just a few of the topics covered.
